 Morgan Samuel Price is an accomplished plein air painter who has been collected by domestic and international collectors and corporations and is exhibited in galleries across the United States. Painting primarily in oil, but also adept in watercolor and pastel, her work includes landscape, complex architecture, still life, and portraiture. The list of Morgan's exhibitions and honors are lengthy. What is most impressive is her steady progress towards true distinction as she has moved from local to regional to national recognition. Her desire to paint the visually beautiful moment makes her painting extraordinary. All of her work has this rare quality of immediacy. Her goal is to capture the play of light and bring it to her viewer so that they are able to put themselves in that same moment of time, light and experience. Her personality has many facets of which self-confidence, determination, and optimism are perhaps the most important. It is these same qualities that shine through in her paintings. Using nature as her inspiration and primary reference for observing the nuances of light, Morgan creates representational scenes painted with a beautiful sense of design and simplicity. Paintings are started and finished on location with deft brushstrokes and quickly observed sophistication. She presents to us equally well the softness of spring, the sensuousness of summer, the glories of fall and the chilly solitude of winter. After graduating from Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida in 1968, Morgan began her career as an illustrator. In a brief four years, it was clear that Morgan was passionate about painting. In 1972, Morgan began her fine art career. Her love of nature quickly led Morgan to plein air painting, which continues as her primary inspiration. Morgan now travels extensively throughout the United States and Europe to pursue her plein air painting as well as conducting outdoor workshops. Today, Morgan enjoys sharing her painting career with others though her worldwide workshops, her book, Oil Painting with a Basic Palette, and her teaching videos. Morgan currently resides in Vero Beach, Florida, where she maintains her studio.
